Mangroves: Hammerhead Nurseries
Shark lovers unite! Triplefin is supporting research on our endangered hammerhead sharks with a focus on potential nurseries in overlooked, sheltered mangrove bays.
We work with researchers to filter DNA from water samples to answer questions critical to their survival as a species: Where are they found? What do they need to survive there? Where do the go once they’ve grown big enough to venture out? What are their migratory patterns within the Sea of Cortez? The toughest part of the job is not getting the very sticky “Baby Shark” song stuck in our heads!
